Subject: a report on pitiable economic and social
status of women in rural areas.
Respected
Madam,
It
was a great sad to inform you about the pitiable
economic and social status of women in rural areas. My finding has shown
that even after independence, though fifty years passed , the condition of
women has not changed drastically. Kindly find this report in reference to your
order number welfare/ wcm / GJ/2080/05 dated 15th May 2005.
The
first and foremost problem that to be noted is that the standards of men and
women are not balanced still man is considered higher than woman. In the case
of children even the boys are priority in almost all the fields and the both of
girls are not accepted in some villages and some cast.
Women
are forced to be bounded in the limited area of the house. They are not given
permission to come out of the house at particular time and especially among the
man out of the family. There is still dull and routine custom in front of the
elders of the husband’s family. They even can not utter a single word in
presence of the men and against the order of her husband. She has to remain
speechless.
Education
is the base of the teaching of life and the basic step for the future of the
country. But women of rural areas are kept away and out from education from
childhood. Women are taught that their birth is for the service of their
husbands and family members.
In
a way, the social condition women of has not increased since the Independence.
The father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi believed: “woman is an incarnation of Goddess but socially no
upliftment is give to them.
On
the one side, torturing and harassment are considered as sin in religion and
crime in law in India. While on the other side women are beated openly in the
village. The condition of them is really pitiable but very few are there to
understand the condition of them and those who tries to oppose t. They would
fight for long time in men dominant society.
Recommendations:-
If
the condition of women is to improve then the first step towards it is
definitely the revolution in the field of education of girls. For this, girls
schools should be opened in the villages so that they can come out from the
line drawn by male and can be aware of their rights.
Arrangement
of seminars is the another important factor in the direction of improving the
pitiable condition of women. If school will be there, but the girls would not
be sent schools then the problem will remain the same. So by arranging seminars
they can be enlighten about the equal importance of women in society.
For
the solution of the torturing and harassment protection of law is must. They
should be a ‘Mahila Mandal’ on Taluka each so that women can go there for help
all there. There should be protection of police where they can complain of
their exploitation.
I hope that there will be some notable
steps from you in this direction and burning problem of the pitiable and
pathetic condition of woman in rural areas. There is a great need to improve
the social and economic condition of women.
` Truly Yours, S.N. Hingu.
