Write a critical note on Anandgram as Kapadia’s Utopia,

Anandgram is Kapadia’s Utopia, an ideal picture of a society exists, where bliss exists eternally.

Vasudha decision’s to take shelter at Anandgram:-
After thirty two tears of married life, Vasudha fights back against the forces of suppression. She is completely disillusioned. She feels that a woman ceases to be a human being after marriage. After such along period, she leaves her home to fulfill her aspirations. It took her a long time to take this decision. She decided to take Shelter at Anandgram. Here men and women live together with a high sense of unity. No one exploits anyone. The whole atmosphere of this place is full bliss (anand). Now she finds an opportunity to bring out her potentials. Until now her talent capacities were suppressed. She ahs the freedom of thought, expression, freedom to live life as she wishes. She is a free bird to go anywhere and do anything she likes. She had no courage to do all these things for a long time.

Anandgram as real home:-
Anandgram becomes the home of Swarup, Mitra, Alopa, Ana, Agnivesh, Jaya, Abha and the narrator. They decide to live together. Here everyone has a separate room or a house. They feel one another’s warmth of heart. They get an opportunity to be real human beings. They enjoy freedom of head and heart, freedom to be themselves.
Kapadia further remarks that every person has his or her own personal skill, virtues and potentials. No Person is perfect. Nothing can be perfect in this imperfect world. But one can at least makes an effort to move in the direction of perfection. Anandgram helps one to do so. Here everyone is treated as equal. Love is possible only among those people who treat one another as equals. They should walks hand in hand and creates an environment of peace of mind and happiness of soul. They should follow the idea of ‘Universal Brotherhood’. Here no one dominates anyone. One is neither a servant more an authority. They are free form any type of restrictions. Everyone is satisfied with what he or she is or has. They live a self-satisfied life.

Kapadia’s world of imagination
Thus Anandgram is Kapadia’s world of imagination. This is the place where she aspires to be world free form all shackles restrictions and oppressions. Vasudha ardently wishes to live in Andadgram. But the question still remains whether there can be place very difficult for such a place to exist. Most of the Indian are orthodox and they will not easily accept such a free world. In the present living with a high sense of co-operation and freedom. Such an ideal concept seems to be outside the meant set-up of most of use. However, we may cherish a wish that the attitudes may change and the world will become Anandgram.
