Write a detailed note on the character of Binoy

Character of Binoy:-

Introduction:-
Rabindranath Tagore is the supreme master in the art of characterization, by his poetic genius. He has portrayed his numberless character in his fiction. His great quality is that his characters are quite symbolic, psychological and realistic. Nobody can surpass him in the art of off character-portrayal. In this novel we have two contrasting group of character brought together in sharp conflict. Gora and Krishna Dayal belongs to the Orthodox Hindu group while Pare Babu his daughter,, Binoy and Andandmoyi belong to the group of the Brahmos and how have a more liberal view of religion.

Binoy- A Foil to Gora:-
In particular the characters of Gora and Binoy are the supplementary as well contrasting to each other. Both these protagonist have their difference star from their outward appearance. Both are sincere friend and value the friendship very highly. Both are idealist and have a keen desire to serve Mother India. Gourmohan is the hero but Binoy is new important character in the novel. Binoy is a peasant young man. He is gently and intelligent. He looks like as show rather than  a powerful and original character. when he is placed beside Gora, he looks like the moon by the side of the sun. Binoy is a mild, gently, emotion and poetical young man,. He is far more typical Bengali young man than Gora. He was an orphan and Gora was the only Epson, who took care of Binoy. He is very clever and intelligent.

His Intelligence
Binoy and Gora studies together when they were small boys. In fact, Binoy was cleverer than Gora in his studies. He used to get scholarship for his studies. IT was Binoy who helped Gora in passing examinations, but because of his authoritative nature, Gora was the leader among students. Binoy was shy and lacked confidence. .

His communion with Brahmos:-
When Paresh Babu and Sucharita met with an accident, Binoy got the first change to meet any lady out of his family. On the invitation of Paresh Babu he and Gora visit his home. Lolita, the younger daughter of Paresh Babu gets interest in Binoy. She also gets angry wit him because he hassle the time talks about Gora. She believes that Binoy must have his own personality. Lolita compares Gora with cockroach and Binoy wit mosquito. As the cockroach swallows the mosquito, Gora overshadows Binoy. Just in order to show that is not so he accepted the cup and tea and also promised to act in a drama in the company of Brahmo girls.

His Love for Lolita:-
When he comes to know about the arrest of  Gora, he runs away to Calcutta. On the way, he realizes for the first time that Lolita has trusted him and chose him as companion for the journey. He is deeply pained by the scandal from which Lolita has to suffer. So he makes an offer of marriage in order to save her from criticism of the society.

His courage and Determination:-
Though Binoy is weak in taking decision, there are certain incident in the novel where we find Binoy’s real courage. when though Gora was not ready to accept the fact that Binoy should marry a Brahmo girl. He decided that he will marry Lolita and support her, when everybody in the society  was criticsing her. The second even also expresses Binoy’s courage. All the people believed that in order to marry Brahmo girl ,he will have to leave his own religion but he clear tells that he is not ready to leave his religion.

His liberal views:-
When we think of the ideology, Binoy is liberal in his religious views. He has far more liberal attitude to social problem than Gora. He gives up his narrow and orthodox ideals of untouchbility after meeting Pare Babu and his family. He does not believed in the distinction of caster. Of course it is Lolita, who play a very important role in changing and shaping his personality.

Thus we can say that Binoy is a good and innocent young man of a very gently nature. He is intelligent and attractive youth. However these are not sufficient to call him the hero of the novel.
